“The Remington 700 comes in standard consumer versions as well as versions designed for military and police use. Some variants come with bipods, slings and other accessories. Some Model 700 rifles are made with detachable magazines, for faster reloading, such as the Police model DM. There are several variants of the consumer version of the Model 700, including; Model 700, Model 700 ADL, Model 700 BDL, Model 700 CDL, and Model 700 Safari. Heavy barrel versions with laminated stocks like the Model 700 SPS varmint are available for varmint hunting. The Model 700 ADL has also been re-branded as the Model 700 SPS (Special Purpose Synthetic) in newer models. As noted firearms author Chuck Hawks says: "today it is available in a bewildering array of models."[3]There are two main models of the 700P — the standard 700P with a 26" heavy barrel and the 700P Light Tactical Rifle (LTR) which has a 20" fluted heavy barrel. Both rifles also come (optionally) in a Tactical Weapons System (TWS) package, complete with telescopic sights, bipods, and carrying cases. Both rifles are capable of sub MOA accuracy right out of the box using match quality ammunition and a quality scope. According to Remington Arms, around 90% of the police sharpshooter rifles in the United States are based on Model 700s, specifically the 700PSS model (now known as the 700P). The rifle is also very popular with law-enforcement agencies abroad. Remington markets the 700 to military forces and civilian law-enforcement agencies under the Remington Law Enforcement and Remington Military banner, with the military/law enforcement 700s being called the Model 700P ("Police"). The 700P series appears to have been influenced by the designs, features, and success of the M24 Sniper Weapon System and the M40 series, with one feature of the Model 700P series being the heavier and thicker barrel for increased accuracy and reduced recoil. The rifle was chambered for .308 Winchester cartridge as well as the .223 Remington, .243 Winchester, 7 mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, and .300 Remington Ultra Magnum. The 700P has a 26" barrel, aluminum block bedded in its stock, which is made by HS Precision. The police version (700P) is also marketed to private citizens and is very popular with shooters and hunters who like the "government issue" appearance as well as the handling and accuracy. Remington also sells the standard, U.S. Army-issue Leupold Mark IV M3 10 x 40 mm telescopic sight used by the Army's M24 as an optional feature. A less expensive but similarly-styled version called the Special Purpose Synthetic (or SPS) is similar in most respects to the 700P but lacks the heavier "bull" barrel (a parkerized standard-weight barrel is substituted) and the H-S Precision stock. Both the U.S. Army's M24 Sniper Weapon System and U.S. Marine Corps' M40 sniper rifles are built from the Remington Model 700 rifle, in different degrees of modification, the main difference being the custom fitted heavy contour barrel. The M24 uses the long action bolt-face, whereas the M40 uses the short action. The reason for this difference is to allow the M24 to chamber a larger round if so modified.”- Wikipedia
2. My first impressions were as this says:
I got home from school and my mom said I had a package and had put it on my bed (yes I live with my mom, for I am only 14). when I got up stairs I ripped the box opened and found 2 more small boxes, one I found held the magazines I ordered extra ($6 bucks each, nice steal). When I came to the big box I fumbled around on my desk for a razor and cut the seals. I saw the gun in 2 pieces with the scope to its side it also came with speed loader a mag and some bbs. The scope is an off brand 3-9x40 with an 11 power illuminated crosshair, which is pretty cool for night wars. I put the gun together within minutes I hade stripped the screws, so I jogged over to lowes and bought to Allen screws for like 50 cents, I would recommend greatly that you do the same or you will find your self in a pain staken agony. It would have only taken like 5 minute to put together, but for retards like me it took 30 because I put the screws in the wrong spot. USE THE MANUAL IT IS THERE FOR A REASON!!!!!
3. Build and feel quality:
Let me start by saying I love the feeling of this gun, and that is a complete marui clone for you guys who did not know that. I hear people say "oh it sure does have that rubbery feel" and im sure I won’t be the last person to tell, but, it does. Anyways it has pretty toy like weight so I put great stuff in the hollow stock and iron weights. This I may note also reduced noise echo quite a bit. The thing I like about this gun is that it is very sturdy. The gun is almost completely metal. The upper receiver is all metal other than the scope mount rails. The trigger is metal, although the guard is relatively strong plastic; it is still the only piece of plastic other than the rails and the but pad on the gun.
4. Internals
Every part inside of this gun is Tokyo marui compatible, hence why TM is suing them. The Barrel is a 6.06 430 mm stock brass barrel. Which id personally say get a Dees customs barrel. That’s what I have anyways. The cylinder head is also decent, but I would replace with a lay lax. The spring is a stock 130 spring, and is not necessary to replace if you do the Teflon and air break mod. The spring guide should be replaced with a lay lax one. The Air break does not need to be replaced for it is not that important.
The cylinder is of decent quality and does not need to be replaced, but you could. The hop up is spectacular for a stock gun and is a V-hop, but the bucking is terrible and needs to be replaced, id recommend a firefly hard bucking or mad bull hard bucking.
5. Performance
Really I was not wowed by the stock performance, but it was acceptable. I used my professional chrono and I got 417 over 10 shots, very good stock power for a $130 gun. I tested its accuracy at 100' with polished TSD .20 bbs. I used the scope that it came with, and once sited in I was getting 2"-3 1.5" groupings, not to bad. A few things you want to do are to clean the barrel when you first get it. It will be full of packing grease and be very dirty. Then lightly lube it with either Teflon lube or silicone spray, I myself use Rem Oil for it is cheap and easy to find. Then you want to clean all the grease form the hop up and bucking, then put it back together. Overall on stock performance id give a 8 out of 10 only because of its accuracy, but keep in mind I was using .2 bbs
6. Retailers
The Bar-10 is available in many stores and site out of the U.S, and a few in. I ordered mine from Air soft GI and received it within a week, the total was $150, but the gun with the scope was only $130, and that along with Hit guns is the cheapest place you will find the scoped model. the cheapest un-scoped model is by far Air soft Atlanta at $84.99, but keep in mind that you have to by a scope rail for $16 which is $100 that qualifies you for free shipping, but you wont find a scope as good as that for $30.
7. Conclusion
The JG BAR-10 is easily the best stock budget rifle available for a meager 85 bucks for the gun only, I would recommend doing the air break and Teflon mod which put me at 494 FPS and then with my Dees custom barrel at 512 fps. So I would overall with the service from AGI give the gun a 9/10.
Pros:
Nice stock power
Complete 100% Marui clone
Teflon and air break mod
Decent accuracy
Good rubbery feeling stock (till I woodland camoed it)
Opened able cylinder
V-hop
Long barrel
Cheap
Cons:
Discontinued, there are some left in warehouse that they are selling, but they are not producing them anymore.
The mag catch is a cold SOB , but if you loose the spring use a mechanical pencil spring
Allen screws suck
Light and toy like
That’s about it
Accuracy 7/10
Power 10/10
Build quality 10/10
Customer service 9/10- the delivery guy was a looser
Price 9/10
Overall 9/10 like I said great gun for any beginner or seasoned pro
Thanks for reading this and I would recommend this to anyone, i will post a thread later on how to do the mods. If you have any questions about the BAR-10 or sniping in general PM me.
