One thing that gives many snipers away is there scope. Even if it does not glare, there is still a large black circle that is not found in nature. There are, however, several ways to prevent this. Most of them involve extending the the end of the scope to cast a shadow over it. Unfortunately most of the comercially made ARDs are a bit expensive. So here are a few Homemade versions that will be a little less hostile to your wallet. This one is one of my custome sunshades cobined with a bit of window screen. I couldn't find a pic of this one but it's a home made killflash. Not just screen over the lens. You just take a bunch of straws and tape them in a bundle about the size of your obj. lens. put them inside a lens cape and cut off the eccess. now paint it and your done. Feel free to put in what ever ideas you have. thanx, -Cross

Here's another one that I just finished. It's similar to the cat eye, but it's also extended out about 2in. The german snipers in WWII used theese. they are very easy to make, just take a regular scope cover and use cardboard to make the extension. then wrap it in tape, paint it, and your done. -Cross

That looks great, nice job - Just a thought, have you thought about cutting off those round bits of plastic (that are meant to thread elastic cord through) on the scope cover? I think it would look a lot better (just my opinion though).

Actually it doesn't. it's just like the difference between looking through a hole in a fence. the closer your eye is close to the hole, the wider you field of view. and if it's close enough, it doesn't block it at all. that's why I made the ARD so short.
