So I know there's a huge data base of 'em at ASR, but since there's already a BAR-10, might as well.
My review will be the chopped version, in other words, why read a paragraph on real steel and other versions of the gun? you wanted to know about this one!
Ordering-
I ordered this from Airsoftgi.com for $112 shipped, it arrived about a week later, maybe a little more.
Build quality-
Ok, we know WE's usual pot metal story, and yes, the gun is made of pot metal, but I actually like it. The metal is painted a dark grey and the grips are flat black plastic. The plastic is not amazing on the grips, but they will do. The iron sights do not adjust, but I LOVE the white dots that enable a faster, more accurate sight picture. The outer barrel is chrome, but it looks plated. I wouldn't be too worried though, the finish hasn't worn off on mine and I use it almost every day for just plinking and dry firing. The rifling on the outer barrel is really cool, I enjoy that feature a lot, however, USA airsofters will be forced to remove the orange tip to see it *not recommended. Also, .45 ACP is engraved on the ejection port, which is one of my main reasons for purchase.
Internals-
The inner barrel is a standard bore barrel and the hop up... well it gets the job done, definitely better than the hop ups you'll get on some of the similarly priced pistols some retailers have. The blowback chamber is made of stronger metal than the slide as far as I can tell and the plastic cylinder is nice and sturdy, I also like the kick and noise it puts out, definitely my favorite feature of the gun. The mags are where it falls a tiny bit short, because as I'm sure you've heard, the gas efficiency is sub-par. However, this problem can be remedied by a plastic spacer as shown here The feed lips are nice and thick though, and the spring that pushes the bbs up in the mag is nice and strong.
Performance-
My WE came clocked in by ASGI at 350 exactly, the accuracy in a controlled condition is: [later date]
Outdoors the accuracy is: [later date]
please note that the temperature indoors will be about 74 degrees and the temperature outside is [later date]
Problems-
Since the slide and frame etc... are made of pot metal, they inherit the associated weakness. Within the first 12 hours on my pistol, the spring guide retainer, and cap snapped in half. I contacted ASGI about it and were... well, not very prompt to send out replacement parts, but when they did, they were from the WE factory. While this may be a bad thing since its made of pot metal, did you thing a retail store would send you free upgrades? Anyway, the parts they sent haven't broken yet, but if you're serious about using it for long term, I'd replace all of the pot metal, which means you might as well just buy a TM if you're looking for something that will last >2 years with like new performance. I won't lie to you, I love this gun like a child, but I think the extra $50 spent on a plastic TM, then buying the $200 worth of metal and upgrades is worth it.
The finish also comes off VERY quickly in spots, the finish on the side of my slide is actually coming off from me setting it down on a wooden shelf every once and a while, and I don't mean chipping, I mean wearing down, like I was sanding it.
Unique features-
The included pistol lanyard is attached to the recoil spring and it is very study, I have no doubt that this will break unless you are thrashing it. The underside rail scratches when ever you put stuff on it and the little notches that hold the screw are a tiny bit too big, but it gets the job done and it just looks cool
Disassembly-
